Monticello Flooring & Lumber Co. Inc. was founded by G.F. “Pete” Perdue. Mr. Perdue was born in 1913 and raised in the Gap Creek community of Wayne County, Ky. Mr. Perdue started at a very young age in the log woods with his father. He decided to put the knowledge that he had learned to use and started in the sawmill business in Burfield, Ky., in 1945 at the age of 32 and thus moving from one boundary of timber to another. After doing this for several years he then decided to move his business to a permanent location in the Eubank, Ky. community. This business became known as Perdue Lumber Co. in 1956. Mr. Perdue was very blessed and enjoyed success in the industry for several years before deciding to venture into the flooring business. In 1970 he formed and started what is known today as Monticello Flooring & Lumber Co. Inc. After enjoying several years of success in the flooring business Mr. Perdue passed in 1994 leaving a legacy for his family to continue. He instilled in all of his children and grandchildren that honesty, hard work, dedication and faith was the key to success in all of life’s trials and triumphs.
